The challenge
Connecting three levels with a single staircase, inside an existing stairwell where neither the walls nor the floors were square.
Our response
The string was drawn and calculated from a laser survey of the stairwell. Every tread was shaped to measure, the handrail cold-bent then polished in place. Metalwork, joinery and plastering were coordinated to the millimetre so the staircase appears to grow out of the wall.
The rest of the house followed the same logic: demolition, structural works, joinery, decoration and interior fit-out, delivered as one coherent whole rather than a sum of packages.
