The challenge

Giving a Brussels period house its standing back without freezing it: keeping the joinery, the glazed doors and the volumes while installing the comfort expected today.

Our response

The solid timber doors and frames were restored in the workshop rather than replaced. Floors were relaid in natural stone, lighting was integrated into the cornices, and all services were renewed with no visible drilling through the retained features.

The rear façade and terraces were rebuilt, which restored the original relationship between the reception rooms and the garden.
